Note of Encouragement: The Silent Prayer
There is a prayer that comes from the deep places within our hearts that often words cannot even express. These are moments where it goes beyond a casual conversation with God to a deep connection of hearts. The Psalms are full of David pouring his heart out before the Lord. Often however, we seem to be content to stay shallow in our prayers. But our Heavenly Father loves to hear the deep heart whispers of His children!
Hannah knew what it was to enter the deep places in prayer with the Lord. She cried out to the Lord for a son in 1Samuel. She went beyond a superficial prayer to God to a place of heart to heart connection and encounter. Her silent prayer was perceived by Eli the priest as being drunk. Hannah’s reply was, “I was pouring out my soul to the Lord” (1Sam. 1:15). The deep places in her called out to the deep places in God.
Eli’s response to Hannah was, “Go in peace”. We need to remember to stay in His Presence long enough to receive God’s peace in return. Our Heavenly Father loves to hear the desires of our heart, but once you are in that deep place with Him; wait until you feel His infilling of peace. He wants to fill us with His Presence and give us His wisdom and provision.
1Sam 1:18 says that Hannah left the place of deep encounter with God and “her face was no longer downcast”. The end result of a deep encounter with our Heavenly Father is joy. His Presence creates more peace and joy in our lives as He overwhelms us with His goodness and love. Come draw aside with the Father today and let the deep places in you call out to the deep places in Him.
